At Sunny Metal, we take great pride in producing the highest quality metallic fibers and powders in the industry by the employees in our own factory.   For example, our metallic fibers are produced by a specialized wire shaving and chopping process with precision technology to produce the highest quality and consistent fiber found in the market today.  Since 1991 we have been supplying major OE and aftermarket manufacturers of brake pads and lining products with steel, brass, and copper fibers.

Enviro-Fiber was developed by Sunny Metal in 2001 as an environmentally safe friction material that has the potential to offset the use of copper based materials.  Enviro-Fiber has significant thermal transfer properties as seen with iron powder, but since it is a fiber, it will provide a stronger mechanical interlock. OUR PRODUCTS:

POWDERS:  Iron Sponge Powder, Brass, Copper, Synthetic Graphite, Antimony Trisulphide

Low Carbon Steel Fibers:

Produced for semi-metallic or low metallic brake pad and lining applications.  Produced from high quality "steel wool" type wire with tightly controlled chemistry levels.

Annealed Steel Fibers:

Produced by a specialized treatment process. The fibers are soft and oil-free, distinctly improving abrading of the brake

  • Excellent noise-reduction properties

Stainless Steel Fibers:

Produced from 400 series stainless steel wire for brake pad and lining applications for OEM or special applications requiring anti corrosion properties.

Sponge Iron Powder:

Iron Powder is used as a filler in friction materials, while also adding significant thermal transfer properties, These attributes help to dissipate heat which improves performance and reduces wear on the brake pad. 

Copper/Brass Fibers:

Non-ferrous(Copper and Brass) produced for NAO/ceramic brake or clutch linings or pads.

  • Copper fibers produced from high purity electrolytic copper with a purity of 99.9%
  • Brass fibers used as a lower cost alternative to copper and produced from lead free brass (65/35 brass)

Ideal for low noise, excellent heat conduction, and high friction coefficient

Vibration Cutting Copper/Bronze Fibers:

Non-ferrous (Copper and Brass) specially developed for Original Equipment (OE) NAO/ceramic brake and clutch linings or pads

Ideal for low noise, excellent heat conduction, and high friction coefficient

Copper Chips:

Produced from reclaimed copper fibers/chops and sized to meet your needs.  We use only the finest material that is ideal for friction applications.  Cu content 99.3% or greater.

Copper Powder:

Our Copper powders can be produced from electrolytic process, gas, or water atomization.   Particles can be dendrite or spherical shaped, depending on your needs. Produced from 99.5% pure Cu or greater. 

Brass Powder:

Our Brass powders are produced by water atomization.  Available in mesh sizes: 100, 150, 200 and 325 as well as custom grades. Produced from lead free 70/30 brass.

Antimony Trisulfide:

Produced from milling stibnite.  High purity grades available for friction applications to reduce wear and stabilize the coefficient of friction with Sb content from 61 % up to 69%.
